Planning a web site or ecommerce solution in full is essential before the first piece of content is written, the first design drawn up or any code is cut.

Ridgeway undertake a planning phase with all of our clients ahead of any large scale project. We produce documentation, mock-ups, undertake research and provide informed recommendations. We provide the same service on a consultative basis to clients intending to deliver the final solution using in-house or external resources.

Scope definition and documentation

An essential part of any web site planning process is to create a well-defined scope which details all of the project requirements. Ridgeway typically document these requirements in a full functional specification, supported by creative and technical briefs where necessary.

Research and reporting

Most projects require some form of research which Ridgeway’s team undertake and report back on. This might include researching target search engine phases for a specific sector and estimating their value to a client, or it may be surveying target customer groups. All information gathered is fed back into the project scope and plan.

Solution prototyping

Technically complex projects may require an element of solution prototyping. This is a common requirement on projects with some form of integration between multiple systems or solutions. Ridgeway’s technical team will create a working prototype to prove complex parts of a solution are viable, working closely with in-house or third-party suppliers where necessary.

Marketing & content strategy

A critical part of any web site solution is the web site content itself and the strategy which will underpin the promotion of the web site after launch. We work with clients at the earliest stage in any project to ensure marketing objectives are taken into account during the planning phase.
